Tier 1
Objective: Find the place where Mara studied.
Head to the Monastery of the First Mother at Coordinates , (1044 , 335)
Find the book, Ovid’s Metamorphoses, which is in the back left corner from where you entered.
Tier 2
This next tier starts a series of puzzles and riddles you’ll need to figure, based on the above image from the book.
So keep that in mind as each part…
“My past has been hidden in the log shadows of gods,
My soul is a song you must play in the dark,
These, the weights of my burdens…”
Objective: Search the library
This will be the first puzzle… The goal is to put out all the candles.
I’m sure there’s a certain order, however I got this based on luck, as did Volaric. We lost track of what we were clicking, but eventually it advanced the mission. If somebody actually pays attention to the order, please let me know in the comments so we can help others. Otherwise, start in the back corner from where you read the book in the previous tier and start clicking!
Objective: Take the spectral lyre.
Once the candles are out, the mission will update, run over and grab the Spectral Lyre from the podium.
Objective: Play the spectral lyre.
With the spectral lyre in your inventory, go ahead and active it. This will update your mission to …
Objective: Follow the trail.
A music trail will lead you to the next location. Keep playing the instrument to guide your path. You’ll eventually end up at Coordinates ( 1118 , 326 )
Tier 3
Objective: Remove the protective wards.
Now starts the next puzzle, this is a music puzzle. If you’re hard of hearing, or tone deaf, as usual, Funcom hates you! But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!
This puzzle involves matching the music from the Spectral Lyre to the tune of each of the 4 items. There are 18 total steps.
There are 2 ways to we’ve outlined to solve this:
Video Version
If you’re a fan of numbered sequence, we’ve created a graphic to follow, just position yourself, and click the 4 items in the order listed.
Otherwise, here’s the text order to follow:
Callisto , Diana, Jupiter , Jupiter, Juno, Jupiter, Diana, Jupiter, Diana, Callisto, Diana, Jupiter, Juno, Jupiter, Jupiter, Diana, Diana, Callisto
Once complete, the mission will update to a new objective list:
Objective: Take the symbol of Jupiter
Objective: Take the symbol of Juno
Objective: Take the symbol of Diana
Objective: Take the symbol of Callisto
Picking up the 4 pieces updates the objective..
Tier 4
Objective: Solve the third line in the verse.
Luckily, it is right here in the same room! You’ll notice some stones just past the puzzle you completed. The goal here is to place the items you’ve just picked up, in the proper order on these blocks.
The solution, from left to right…
Jupiter, Callisto, Juno, Diana
Or, see the image below for the correct order based on items in your inventory!
Upon completion, you’ll see and hear a message which is extremely important for the next part…
Tier 5
Objective: Find Mara’s hidden vault.
“Poor poet, how far will you fo without going all the way? You’re so thirsty, but you don’t drink. Muse we play this game forever? The truth is I find your poems boring and you’ll get nothing from me. At least, no more than the endless years you’ve gotten already. The water babbles, Callisto, but not for you. Because you were never among her favoured.”
The mission text speaks of waters…
“Poor poet, how far will you go without going all the way? You’re so thirsty, but you don’t drink. Must we play this game forever? The truth is I find your poems boring and you’ll get nothing from me. At least, no more than the endless years you’ve gotten already. The water babbles, Callisto, but not for you. Because you were never among her favoured”
Head into the Roman Baths, you’ll need to fight your way through to the end at Coordinates (816 , 354)
As you approach, the vault the mission will update.
Objective: Unlock the Vault
So, clearly these represent stars, and Callisto, thanks the the early references of the Greek Mythology, turns out to be the constellation known as “Ursa Major” (The Bear)
No next, it was time to stare at this till the proper method stood out. I could go on explaining how this was figured, but I’m sure you’re not interested in that, you just want to know how to advance, so here ya go!
The image asumes you’re facing directly East..
NOTE: Stepping off the platform resets it. So be careful with that.
Video Version
Once complete, you’ll here the mission update, and get a new objective.
Objective: Read Mara’s Journal
To the left of where you just solved the puzzle, a block moves and opens to where Mara’s Journal was hidden.
Walk over and pick it up.
