What the Icons Mean
Story – These quests are the main story of The Secret World, typically taking you through each zone.
Dungeon – These quest lead you into the dungeons, usually advance as each boss is killed and complete when the instance is cleared.
Combat – These missions are typically kill or hunt missions. They involve combat, usually with varying types of enemies.
Investigation – Research and Investigation Missions. Designed to make you solve puzzles or find solutions, usually with real world elements.
Sabotage – Missions with multi-part specific tasks. Usually involved collection, infiltration and destruction.
Side Quests - These are typical fetch or locate quests. These quests send you out to obtain a specific object. Allowed to have 3 at any given time.
PvP – Given out in the battleground / pvp zones. These include Caputre Objectives and Kill Quests.

    Your answers are correct however some of the logic is not.
    For the first one the answer is the sum of the digits squares.
    52 = 25

    22+52 = 4+25 = 29
    22+92 = 4+81 = 85
    82+52 = 64+25 = 89
    82+92 = 64+81 = 145For second one the logic is like so
    1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, 36, 45, ___
    1+2 = 3
    3+3 = 6
    6+4 =10
    10+5 = 15
    15 + 6 = 21
    21 + 7 = 28
    28 + 8 = 36
    36 + 9 = 45
    45+10 = 55

    • Surprisingly, for the first one, I just looked at the numbers and did the most logical thing that came to mind and it worked!

      Actully the logic is even more simple than that. if you look at the numbers they are all multiples of prime numbers
      1 is a multiple of 1
      3,6 are multiples of 3
      10,15 are multiples of 5
      21,28 are multiples of 7
      36.45 are multiples of 9
      following this logic the next set of numbers has to be multiples of the next prime number which is 11 which makes the next two numbers in the set 55,66 respectively

    Thanks for full details on first. Interestingly, I followed a completely different approach on forth puzzle than presented here: Solution presented itself under assumption there was a single digit typo in series. (Not unheard of, e.g. after Tier 1 Hell and Bach’s Latin… 😉

    Great quests, people should come here only AFTER solving them. :o)

  • Anyone have an update to the numbers you need for Tier 2? Seeing as how you actually need the codes now, would be nice to see this guide updated.

    • Best we can do is try to get new characters to re-run the mission, unless somebody else reports or reposts updates. Is the problem with MMOs.. The companies keep changing the content on us 🙂 Since this guide is months old, and is not our new better guide format, maybe we should get a redo of some of the early investigation missions on the to-do list.

    For anyone who’s interested in the non-1-spam route for tiers 2 and 3, here’s the idea behind those puzzles.

    TIER 2

    Puzzle 1:

    42 66 70 78 102 105

    Each of these numbers is a multiple of three primes, in increasing order (of the product, not the primes):

    42 = 2*3*7
    66 = 2*3*11
    70 = 2*5*7
    78 = 2*3*13
    102 = 2*3*17
    105 = 3*5*7

    The next smallest number which is the multiple of three primes is 2*5*11 = 110

    Puzzle 2:

    2 3 3 5 10 13 39 43 172 177

    This one is neat it alternates between adding a number, then multiplying it, and then increasing the number and starting over. So:

    3 = 2 + 1
    3 = 3 * 1
    5 = 3 + 2
    10 = 5 * 2
    13 = 10 + 3
    39 = 13 * 3
    43 = 39 + 4
    172 = 43 * 4
    177 = 172 + 5

    Thus the next number is 885 = 177 * 5

    Puzzle 3:

    13 17 31 37 71 73 79 97 107

    Each of the numbers in this list is prime. In addition, the reverse of those numbers is both prime and a different number (thus 11 isn’t on the list, for instance). In fact, this is a complete list of such numbers (up to 107, obviously).

    The next such number is 113.

    Puzzle 4:

    377 610 987 1597

    This is a well-known sequence, it’s just further along than normal. It’s the Fibonacci Sequence where:

    f_(n+2) = f_(n+1) + f_n, with f_0 = 0 and f_1 = 1.

    Thus:

    0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, 1597,
    2584, 4181, 6765, 10946, 17711, 28657, 46368, 75025, 121393, 196418,
    317811

    So, for our purposes, the answer is 2584.

    TIER 3

    If you select 2 (Key extraction system) instead of 1 you’re given a page that reads:

    Abstract logic engaged. Pass phrase encryption identified.

    If you then type hint, you get a page reading:

    rescrambling…

    New phrase generate – “light rings them unborn”

    100% probability that first word of phrase exists in decryption phrase.

    Enter passphrase:

    You can then enter “The Morning Light Burns” as the password. I’m not sure WHY that’s the password (I got it from the flavour text in the command line version), but there you go.

      This is a phrase who comes from your first faction mission. Its written on the wall near dead bodies.

    3rd terminal: all answers are “1”

    Note: after the 2nd terminal, the fastest way to reach the X is gettin caught by an orochi or security cam. You will spawn right next to it.
